FREDDY AND ERNEST, THE DRAGONS OF WELLBOTTOM POGGS

Hilary's third story book for Transatlantic Arts is about two gentle and rather accident-prone dragons. Having lived peacefully in a small village for many centuries, they find themselves facing eviction at the hands of an evil property developer.

Much of the ensuing drama (and humour) concerns their frantic but unsuccessful attempts to raise enough money to buy their home.

All ends well of course, thanks to the timely intervention of a man from the Natural History Museum.

Some of the lifelong friends that Hilary met at art college were gay men. With hindsight, it seems clear that this book was on some level a statement of her belief that people should be free to live as they wish.
